DOJ Fraud Section releases 2018 FCPA Unit statistics

The Fraud Section of the Department of Justice Criminal Division released its 2018 Year in Review today.  The Fraud Section reports that the FCPA Unit resolved six corporate criminal enforcement actions last year, resulting in nearly $597.2 million in corporate criminal fines, penalties, and forfeiture, and total enforcement action amounts payable to US and foreign authorities of $1.86 billion.  The Unit also reports having charged 31 individuals with FCPA violations and having obtained 18 guilty pleas and one individual conviction at trial.  In addition to recapping certain of its more notable enforcement actions and prosecutions involving Société Générale, Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras),  Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA), and China Energy Fund Committee, the report also addresses the four FCPA Corporate Enforcement Policy declinations issued by the Fraud Section.
