NECC coordinates increased anti-money laundering vigilance across UK

On May 17, 2019, the UK National Economic Crime Centre (NECC) announced that that it had identified 42 businesses as having potential anti-money laundering compliance deficiencies. This followed a week of intensified activity coordinated between compliance leads in different sectors including: Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the Gambling Commission, the International Association of Bookkeepers, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, the Institute of Financial Accountants, the Law Society, the Law Societies of Scotland and Northern Ireland, the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) and the Council for Licensed Conveyancers. The week-long exercise was aimed at strengthening coordination between these different agencies and organizations.
