The U.S. Department of Justice recently announced that it unsealed an indictment charging Jeffrey Chance Nader with violating U.S economic sanctions and other federal laws for his efforts to export U.S.-manufactured aircraft components to Iran, following his arrest in California on August 13, 2024. Nader, a California resident and U.S.-Iranian national, is accused in the indictment of conspiring with others, since at least 2023, to purchase and illegally export nearly three dozen individual aircraft components, some of which were intended for use on military aircraft in Iran. According to the DOJ, Nader was able to purchase these items on several occasions, by falsely identifying himself and his company Pro Aero Capital as the end user of components. He also allegedly made multiple attempts to export the items to the United Arab Emirates (“UAE”) with the intention of transshipping them to a customer in Iran. However, the DOJ reported that the items in the indictment were detained by a special agent with the Department of Commerce before they could be successfully exported from the United States.
