On October 19, 2025, the European Commission announced that it was in the process of conducting unannounced inspections of several ski equipment companies suspected of violating Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which prohibits cartels and restrictive business practices. According to the Commission, the inspections are a preliminary step toward a possible anticompetitive inquiry. The Commission also reported that inquiries into anticompetitive conduct have no legal deadline for completion, and their duration is influenced by a number of factors, including the companies’ cooperation with the Commission, the exercise of their rights of defense, and the complexity of each case.
The Commission also indicated that it developed a tool that enables individuals and entities with information regarding report anticompetitive behavior to report this behavior anonymously. A link to the tool is available here.
