On May 19, 2021, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control amended the Terrorism List Governments Sanctions Regulations, 31 CFR part 596, to rescind Sudan’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. OFAC has removed one general license in full and amended another to ensure that financial transactions involving the Government of Sudan and Sudanese nationals are no longer prohibited under the Terrorism List Governments Sanctions Regulations. The regulation is effective on May 20, 2021 upon publication in the Federal Register.
