Stephen Emler and Giuseppe Morreale, former CFO and Managing Director, respectively, of F.H. Bertling Ltd, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to make corrupt payments to secure a freight forwarding contract with ConocoPhillips as part of the ‘Jasmine’ North Sea oil exploration project, contrary to section 1 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. These convictions are in addition to the seven previously secured by the SFO against F.H. Bertling and former senior executives, including Emler and Morreale, for a separate Angola bribery scheme. The company has since ceased trading and is in liquidation.
