In its Form 8-K, Laureate Education, Inc. announced that it had received a letter from the Department of Justice closing its inquiry into possible violations of the FCPA. The DOJ acknowledged the company’s voluntary disclosure and full cooperation, as well as the remedial measures taken by the company. The investigation, begun in 2016, focused on donations by the company’s network institution in Turkey to a charitable foundation. Earlier, the SEC also informed the company that it did not intend to recommend enforcement in the matter.
