The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury has designated three individuals and six entities for their roles in extending the conflict in South Sudan and for undermining the peace and stability of that country. The designations, pursuant to Executive Order 13664, name Israel Ziv, who is alleged to have used companies under his control to sell arms to the South Sudanese government; Obac William Olawo, a South Sudanese businessman who is alleged to have imported armored vehicles and arms to South Sudan; and Gregory Vasili, former governor of Gogrial State who has allegedly helped broker deals for the sale of military equipment to the government of South Sudan, and facilitated the transport of soldiers there. Of the six entities designated today, three are owned or controlled by Ziv, and three by Olawo.
