On August 29, 2019, a Texas woman pleaded guilty in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio to wire fraud, visa fraud, and conspiracy to violate the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. According to her plea, Robin Longoria took part in a scheme to bribe Ugandan judges and court officials in exchange for those judges granting Longoria’s US clients the authority to bring Ugandan children to the US for adoption. Longoria acknowledged that she and her co-conspirators concealed the bribes from these US clients and created false documents for submission to the US Department of State. Longoria will be sentenced in January 2020.
