The World Bank Group has debarred MTZ Equipment Ltd., an agricultural equipment distributor headquartered in Ontario, Canada, for a period of 30 months. According to World Bank documents, MTZ knowingly submitted a bid with a false guarantee related to the Afghanistan On-Farm Water Management Project in Afghanistan, which was designed to enhance water use efficiency in that country. MTZ was unsuccessful in its bid. The company will be ineligible to bid on future World Bank Group-financed projects during the 30-month period, and is eligible for cross-debarment by other multilateral development banks. As a condition of MTZ’s settlement with the World Bank, the company must continue to cooperate with the Integrity Vice Presidency.
