On July 15, 2024, the Council of the European Union announced the extension of sanctions against Iran in view of the military support it has provided for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the armed groups and entities in the Middle East and Red Sea region. The sanctions were extended until July 27, 2025 and will continue to be reviewed by the Council on an annual basis. The extension applies to restrictive measures that subject listed persons to asset freezes and travel bans in the European Union and prohibit the provision of funds and economic resources to them or for their benefit.
