Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and Roku, Inc. recently announced that they were able to reach a settlement to resolve a privacy enforcement action brought by Florida prosecutors against the streaming platform under the Florida Digital Bill of Rights. As part of the resolution, which was announced on June 26, 2026, Roku agreed to strengthen its child protection features by giving parents greater control over their children’s streaming experience. The settlement includes no finding of wrongdoing and no civil fine, but Roku has agreed to invest engineering resources estimated at $25 million to implement the enhancements, with work expected to begin immediately and full nationwide deployment anticipated within 12 months. Both sides described the resolution as an early, voluntary agreement reached through cooperative engagement. Roku issued a statement indicating that it was focused on implementing the enhancements promptly and effectively.
