In a recent securities filing, GE HealthCare Technologies Inc., a multinational medical technology company, revealed that it had previously voluntarily self-disclosed to the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the US Department of Justice possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act related to the company’s operations in China. According to the Form 10-Q filed by GE HealthCare on October 31, 2023, the conduct at issue involves “tender irregulars and other potential violations of the FCPA” that occurred in “certain provinces in China.” GE HealthCare stated that it is involved in ongoing discussions with the SEC and DOJ and is fully cooperating with both agencies’ investigations. The company further reported that it has enhanced its compliance policies and practices. According to the Form 10-Q, GE HealthCare first disclosed the potential misconduct to enforcement authorities in 2018.
