Four companies have settled allegations by the Federal Trade Commission that they falsely claimed to be certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework. The Framework provides companies with a mechanism for transferring personal data to the US from the European Union, without violating the data protection requirements of the member countries. It is administered by the International Trade Administration of the Federal Trade Commission, a branch of the Department of Commerce.
