The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations, a Geneva-based organization whose members are pharmaceutical companies and associations around the world, has adopted a new Code of Practice, effective January 1, 2019. This represents the fifth revision of the Code since its original adoption in 1981. The Code maintains its prohibitions and guidelines on the retention and compensation of health care professionals, and bans gift giving and promotional aids for prescription medications.
