Medical testing laboratory reports third-party data breach

Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LabCorp), one of the largest clinical  laboratory networks in the world, announced on June 4, 2019 that  Retrieval-Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc., doing business as American Medical Collection Agency (AMCA) notified LabCorp that between August 2018 and March 2019, unauthorized activity had occurred on AMCA’s web payment page.  LabCorp indicated that 7.7 million of its patients could be affected by the breach, and that the information accessed by hackers could include name, date of birth, phone number, address, medical provider, date of service, account balance, payment card, and bank account information.  

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated made a similar announcement, reporting on June 3, 2019 that 11.9 million of its customers may be affected by the same breach.
