OFAC designates eight IRGC commanders

The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury has designated eight commanders of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) pursuant to Executive Order 13224, for acting on behalf of the IRGC, which was designated by OFAC on October 13, 2017, and by the US Secretary of State on April 15, 2019.  According to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, the individuals designated in this action “were responsible for effectuating the Iranian regime’s destructive influence in the Middle East.”

As a result of the designations, US property interests of the designated persons are blocked, and US persons that engage in transactions with the designated persons, and foreign financial institutions that facilitate significant transactions with them could be subject to sanctions.
