The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury has designated Bah Ag Moussa and Ali Maychou, leader and operative of a west African terrorist group, as Special Designated Global Terrorists, pursuant to Executive Order 13224, for acting on behalf of Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), which was designated in September 2018. The designations target the leadership of JNIM, al-Qu’ida’s branch in Mali, for destabilizing and terrorizing Mali.
As a result of the designations, US property of the designated individuals is blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from dealing with them.
