Minnesota-based multinational discloses FCPA investigation

In its July 26, 2019 Form 10-Q filing, 3M Company, a Minnesota-based company that manufactures consumer and industrial products, reported that it had discovered certain travel, funding, and record keeping issues that raised concerns about the marketing efforts of certain of its business groups in China. 3M stated that it had voluntarily disclosed this conduct to the US Department of Justice and US Securities and Exchange Commission and was cooperating with both.  The company reported that it had retained outside counsel and a forensic accounting firm to assist it in conducting an internal investigation to determine whether this conduct may have violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act or other anti-corruption laws.
