North Korean trading company official is designated by OFAC

The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury has designated a North Korean man pursuant to Executive Order 13687 for his involvement with the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and for his employment in the Munitions Industry Department (MID), which was designated by the United Nations and the US for its connection to North Korea’s missile program.  According to OFAC, the man, Kim Su Il, works for MID as a trading company official in Vietnam, and is responsible for importing and exporting various goods to and from North Korea, including anthracite coal, titanium ore, and other raw materials. 

All US property of Kim Su Il is blocked as a result of the designation, US persons are generally prohibited from dealing with the designated person or property, and any foreign financial institution that knowingly facilitates a significant transaction or provides significant financial services to the designated individual could be subject to correspondent account or payable-through sanctions.
