OFAC designates middlemen channeling financial support to Hamas

The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury has designated Muhammad Sarur, Kamal Abdelrahman Aref Awad, Fawaz Mahmud Ali Nasser, and Muhammad Kamal al-Ayy pursuant to Executive Order 13224, for providing material, technological or financial support to Hamas, which was designated by the Department of State as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in October 1997, and as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in October 2001.  According to OFAC, the three designated individuals serve as intermediaries to move tens of millions of dollars between the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force in Iran through Hizballah in Lebanon to the Izz-Al-Din Al Qassam Brigades in Gaza.

Following these designations, all US property of the designated individuals are blocked, and dealings by US persons with the property of blocked or designated persons are generally prohibited.
