New Executive Order “Imposing Sanctions with Respect to Additional Sectors of Iran”

On January 10, 2020, a new Executive Order was issued pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, 50 USC 1701 et seq. (IEEPA); the National Emergencies Act, 50 USC 1601 et seq. (NEA); Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, 8 USC 1182(f)), and; Section 301 of Title 3, United States Code, authorizing the imposition of sanctions on persons who operate in a specified sector of the Iranian economy, and foreign financial institutions that knowingly conduct or facilitate related financial transactions.
