US sanctions Chinese and Korean companies for exporting North Korean workers

The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has designated two entities pursuant to Executive Order 13722 and the North Korea Sanctions and Policy Enhancement Act (NKPEA), for engaging in the exportation of workers from North Korea.  OFAC indicated that the conduct of the designated entities, a China-based North Korean lodging facility and a North Korean trading corporation, is part of an ongoing attempt to undermine and evade UN Security Council Resolutions 2375 and 2397, which required UN member states to expel all North Korean laborers.

As a result of the designations, US property of the designated entities is blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from dealing with such property.
