The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury has identified Consorcio Venezolano de Industrias Aeronauticas y Servicios Aereos, S.A. (CONVIASA) pursuant to Executive Order 13884, which blocks property of the government of Venezuela. Although the airline’s fleet has been blocked since August 2019 when Executive Order 13884 was issued, OFAC has, for clarity and strengthened compliance, added thirty-nine aircraft to the List of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons. According to OFAC, the airline is used to shuttle members of the Maduro regime to North Korea, Cuba, Iran and elsewhere. Transactions involving the blocked property are generally prohibited to US persons.
