The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury has designated Mohamed al Kani and the Kaniyat militia pursuant to Executive Order 13818, for serious human rights abuses in Libya. According to OFAC, Al-Kani and the Kaniyat militia led by him are responsible for the detention, torture and murder of numerous civilians in Tarhouna, Libya.
Pursuant to these designations, all US property belonging to the designated persons is blocked, and transactions by US persons or persons within or transiting the United States involving such property are generally prohibited.
