The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury has designated seven individuals and four entities pursuant to Executive Order 13848 for complicity in foreign influence directed at a US election, and due to their actions on behalf of Andrii Derkach, a Russian agent designated by OFAC in September 2020.
According to OFAC, Derkach and those acting with him have exploited US media and social platforms to spread unsubstantiated allegations about the involvement of US officials in corrupt conduct in Ukraine. The individuals designated include former and current Ukrainian officials and members of the Ukrainian parliament, and members of Derkach’s media and financial teams. The designated entities are Ukrainian media companies owned or controlled by Derkach.
Pursuant to these designations, US property of the designated persons is blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.
