On May 14, 2021, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced that it amended the Narcotics Trafficking Sanctions Regulations, 31 CFR part 536, and the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Sanctions Regulations, 31 CFR part 598, to include general licenses related to payments for legal services, emergency medical services, and certain transactions related to personal maintenance and the maintenance of blocked tangible property. OFAC also amended certain definitions and prohibitions in the regulations, and updated certain regulatory provisions and other technical and conforming edits.
The regulatory amendment will take effect when it is published in the Federal Register on May 17, 2021.
