On June 22, 2021, the US Department of Justice announced the seizure of 36 websites operating in violation of US sanctions. Thirty-three of the websites were operated by the Iranian Islamic Radio and Television Union (IRTVU), an entity designated in October 2020 pursuant to Executive Order 13848, on domains owned by a US company, without a license issued by the Office of Foreign Asset Controls of the US Department of the Treasury. The remaining three websites were operated by Kata’ib Hizballah, an entity sanctioned by OFAC and the US Department of State as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 2009.
