New UK legislation prohibits aircraft and ship maintenance for Russian oligarchs, extends Crimea sanctions

The UK government recently enacted new legislation to prevent Russian oligarchs from receiving maintenance services in the UK for their aircraft and ships – new laws that were used immediately to sanction Russian businessmen Eugene Shvidler and Oleg Tinkov.  The new legislation, issued through a Statutory Instrument on March 30, 2022, also extends the finance, trade and shipping sanctions imposed on Crimea to non-government controlled territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in Ukraine.
