Wildlife trafficking targeted by OFAC

The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury has designated one individual and two organizations, all Malaysian, pursuant to Executive Order 13581 for being a transnational criminal organization or acting on behalf of or being owned or controlled by a transnational criminal organization.

Resulting from collaboration between the US Department of the Treasury, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the US Department of State, with assistance from the Royal Thai Government, the designation of Teo Boon Ching, Teo Boon Ching Wildlife Trafficking Transnational Criminal Organization, and Sunrise Greenland Sdn.Bhd target the trafficking of endangered and threatened wildlife and brutal poaching methods.  According to OFAC, Teo Boon Ching specializes in the transportation of rhinoceros horn, ivory, and pangolins from Africa for sale in Vietnam and China.

As a result of these designations, all property and interests in property of today’s designees within the United States or within the possession or control of a US person are blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions involving the designated persons.
