On March 4, 2024, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control updated Frequently Asked Question 1166 to clarify the prohibitions in the Diamond Jewelry Determination that was issued pursuant to Executive Order 14068 on February 23, 2024. The Diamond Jewelry Determination, issued pursuant to the Russian Harmful Foreign Activities Sanctions (“RuHSR”), prohibits the import of diamond jewelry and Russia-origin unsorted diamonds into the United States and the export of these items from Russia. The Determination took effect on March 1, 2024.
