On May 24, 2023, the US, UK, Canada, and EU sanctions authorities and the European External Acton Service met to discuss the future of Myanmar (Burma) sanctions and the significant scope of sanctions imposed since Myanmar’s military coup in February 2021.  The partners also discussed the continued need for ongoing coordination and information sharing; ways to restrict the regime’s ability to carry out atrocities against the people of Myanmar; and methods that might encourage the regime to change course and restore democracy in Myanmar.
