The statute of limitations is 6 years starting from the day on which the offense was committed (Art. 8 of the French Criminal Procedure Code).

For hidden or concealed offenses, the statute of limitations starts from the day on which the offense was discovered and was found to satisfy the conditions for prosecution, up to a maximum of 12 years from the day on which the offense was committed (Article 9-1 of the French Criminal Procedure Code).
