The Council of the European Union renewed sanctions on Venezuela that were initially put in place on November 13, 2017. The sanctions include an arms embargo, a travel ban, and asset freezes on 18 individuals holding official positions and allegedly responsible for human rights violations as well as undermining democracy and the rule of law.
