The governments of Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man have announced measures they plan to take to increase transparency of beneficial ownership information. The three jurisdictions plan to enhance their registers of beneficial ownership for companies in three stages during 2021-2022: (1) the islands’ registers will be interconnected with those in the EU for law enforcement and financial oversight access; (2) the registers will become accessible to financial service business and certain other prescribed businesses for due diligence purposes, and; (3) public access will be granted in accordance with the EU Directive.
