Chinese construction company debarred by World Bank

On August 14, 2019, the World Bank debarred a Chinese construction company for 15 months for committing fraud in connection with a project in Samoa.

According to the settlement agreement, Beijing Jingold Construction Co., Ltd (BJC) knowingly misrepresented that it had no history of contract non-performance when it bid on a contract to provide airport infrastructure in connection with the World Bank’s Samoa Aviation Investment Project.  As a result of the debarment, BJC is ineligible to participate in World Bank-financed projects for the duration of the debarment period, and may also be cross-debarred by other multilateral development banks.
