Uzbek company debarred for compliance failures

On April 29, 2020, the World Bank announced the thirty-month debarment of Mega-Mebiko JV LLC, a water supply services company based in Uzbekistan.  According to the settlement, Mega-Mebiko acknowledged responsibility for misrepresenting information about its experience, finances, and conflicts of interest in its bid to obtain a World Bank-financed contract in Uzbekistan.  The period of debarment was reduced to thirty months due to the company’s cooperation, remedial actions, and admission of responsibility.  The settlement includes a commitment on the part of Mega-Mebiko to continue cooperating in the investigation, and to develop an integrity compliance program consistent with World Bank Group guidelines.  The debarment qualifies for cross-debarment by other multilateral development banks.
