On May 28, 2021, the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced that it issued Burma Sanctions Regulations, 31 CFR part 525, to implement Executive Order 14014 dated February 10, 2021, “Blocking Property With Respect to the Situation in Burma.” The regulations will take effect upon publication in the Federal Register on June 1, 2021. While the regulations are being published in an abbreviated form for the purpose of providing immediate public guidance, OFAC intends to supplement part 525 with a more comprehensive set of regulations.
