The UK government recently enacted new legislation to prevent Russian oligarchs from receiving maintenance services in the UK for their aircraft and ships – new laws that were used immediately to sanction Russian businessmen Eugene Shvidler and Oleg Tinkov. The new legislation, issued through a Statutory Instrument on March 30, 2022, also extends the finance, trade and shipping sanctions imposed on Crimea to non-government controlled territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in Ukraine.
