EU extends restrictive measures related to proliferation of chemical weapons for one year

On October 13, 2022, the Council of the EU decided to extend the restrictive measures for Council Decision (CFSP) 2018/1544 concerning the proliferation of chemical weapons, for one year, until October 16, 2024.  The Council Decision enables the EU to impose sanctions upon individuals and entities responsible for the development and use of chemical weapons as well as those who provide them with financial, technical, or material support.  The restrictive measures include asset freezes and travel bans, and prohibit EU citizens and entities from making funds available to sanctioned parties.
