On June 9, 2023, the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced its plan to retire the public-facing file transfer protocol (“FTP”) server (ofacftp.treas.gov). The FTP will be retired on or about June 10, 2024, in order to comply with updated Treasury security policies. According to OFAC, many of its users utilize the FTP to automate their sanctions data downloads. For this reason, the agency decided to maintain the server for an additional calendar year to give these users ample time to develop a system that utilizes the URLs located on OFAC’s website. For now, the server can be accessed at: ftp://ofacftp.treas.gov. For technical support related to this decision, OFAC urges users to contact O_F_A_C@treasury.gov.
