Pursuant to Article 321 of the Criminal Code, the penalties provided for the offenses of “bribery for the performance of the function”, “bribery for an act contrary to public duties”, “bribery in judicial proceedings” and “bribery of a person in charge of a public service” as well as the relevant aggravating circumstances provided for in Article 319-bis,1 also apply to any person who provides or promises money or other things of value in the circumstances set out under the relevant Articles of the Criminal Code.



1 The punishment can be increased if the act of the public officer concerns public employment or salaries, pensions or the awarding of contracts involving the administration of which the public official is a member, or the payment or reimbursement of taxes.
