Pursuant to Article 319 of the Criminal Code, bribery also occurs when a public official, in exchange for performing (or having performed) an act conflicting with the duties of his or her office, or in exchange for omitting or delaying (or having omitted or delayed) an act of his or her office, receives money or other things of value, or accepts a promise of such things.
